Perhaps you remember, way back when, as I wrote about the amazing site, Apps for Children with Special Needs (A4CWSN), made it a cause and managed to be lucky enough to find out the Minis were being awarded an iPad, from A4CWSN, if we could come up with $200. I realized something in the weeks that followed that announcement, I’m so often busy trying to ask for you to give for others’ sake, I rarely ask for you to give for me, for my family’s sake.
So when I let it be known that we could get this iPad for all three of my guys to play with, learn from, grow with, I shouldn’t have been surprised by the outpouring of support that came my way. And yet I was.
There aren’t enough words to express the gratitude in my heart.
Just about a week and a half ago, Mr Gary James himself arrived at our doorstep (don’t mind the weeds, kind sir!) to present our little gang of Minis with an iPad all their own. We’d picked up most of the toys. Put carpet shampoo down (too much … the floor was soaked!). The house was reasonably safe for strangers to view (pleeeease don’t look at the weed garden out front, k?)
I had the camera out, and I meant to take pictures for you, but the kids were so excited, and Mr. James was just too darn sweet, and I really forgot to take the pictures I so wanted to take. (Hold the fort! Gary shot video of the kids and myself, in all my morning-fied glory, and should upload it sometime this century … he’s just a tad busy!)
So, instead, I submit to you my first ever video effort, in my purple Kool-Aid shirt, looking not like a million bucks! Really, you should pay attention to the boys … ’cause they are cute, as always, even if Bobby was trying to disappear into my side, and Andy kept jumping the gun on his starring contribution at the end. Are you ready for some 30 seconds of awesomeness?
And just because I’m sure you will all love to see them, the boys first few shots with the iPad’s camera will be uploaded tomorrow for a sweet (and colorful!) Wordless Wednesday post.
To show my continued support for A4CWSN I’ll be linking to them permanently from my sidebar with their spiffy new logo. (as seen above). I would also like to point out a great way to help the organization and help yourself at the same time. This weekend, A4CWSN is partnering with several App Developers to bring you the A4CWSN App Party!
From the A4CWSN Facebook Page:
So just wanted to give you a quick small run down of some things happening at the APP Party in US, we will be giving 50+ iPads away and 5 iPods. A Wii game station and over 100 iPad 1 and 2 Cases as well as Many Apps being free, there will be a lot of Apps that are drastically reduced in Price for you to Purchase. Be sure to purchase Apps via the links we provide on a NEW (coming soon) PAGE on A4CWSN.com this way we not only receive the donation per App from the developers but also 5% of Apple’s profits![]()
As you can see, the App Party is going to be a lot of fun, a great way to support a wonderful cause, and purchase Apps at a discount or even win a few of them (or something even better!) I hope you will consider supporting this great cause, as they have already given my kids the world.
My one, can’t miss moment so far with the iPad: Logan reaching past his brother to look in awe at the brightly colored screen, a soft smile lighting his face as he looked, really looked, at what was happening on the screen for a few seconds. These are the moments they have already given to me, and to my mini-Moodys. These are the moments A4CWSN is giving special needs children all over the world.
So happy for you and the Minis! God bless Gary and A4CWSN for all they have done for the Moodys and so many others!

Aw – thanks, but I’m like many women -you will never be able to convince me that I look good on video
If you haven’t applied for the A4CWSN iPad4U yet, you should go to their site and do so, quickly! While the waiting list is long, it is definitely worth it! They are truly enjoying it, I know that much … hopefully they will enjoy learning from it just as much as we start downloading some Apps just for their learning!
Children with special needs can benefit from the use of tablet computer more than ever now! I love that more and more of these apps keep popping up! great post.

Thanks a bunch Jarod! It’s been so beneficial we’re talking about saving for a second one so my less severely affected child can have it for school and other work-related tasks. So glad to see you stop by and hope you come back by! The iPad from A4CWSN has been a true blessing!
This is good to read and I appreciate it that you shared something good. Thanks
Thanks so much for stopping by Sam, hope to see you back again soon!
