Hm, anytime I say that phrase I’m reminded of the Brigadoon song – “What a day this has been” …when it comes to the craziness of family life I find I hum it more often than I realize.
I’m sitting here humming it to myself as I type away. How silly. And of course I won’t be able to get it out of my head. Which is okay, since I love that song to pieces.

Andy … my little guy turned 8 yesterday! Ugh I can’t believe how fast time is flying. Can’t ever get these years back. You look away for a second and they’re just … gone.
There’s another Brigadoon quote for that … parents everywhere discover this when they turn around one day to see their kid is suddenly 8-years-old. Family life just goes so fast, you’re busy and it’s crazy and you don’t have time …
Why do people have to lose things to find out what they really mean?

Note from the Kat of the Future: I still can’t see this post (or that poster!) or think about that musical without thinking of my favorite song from it – Almost Like Being in Love.
As I put in the caption to the old movie poster I was actually one of the student directors of Brigadoon in High School and I fell in love with this song. It always puts a smile on my face and makes me want to sing along!
Thinking how I felt when I originally posting this archive post (wow – almost five years ago!), I think the idea that we could have days like this, days that made us smile and seem to dance through life, in the fact of all the therapies and difficulties we were going through with the boys … I think that’s what made me think of this song.
I always think of the song as it was sung in our production, but I think Natalie Cole’s rendition is amazing as well – I hope you enjoy hearing it as much as I enjoy taking the trip down memory lane!
So, now that all the reminiscing is over – What family activities make the world right for you?
